A timeless, transcendental meditation on being.
Chanel Beads is the project of Shane Lavers, an established presence among the New York DIY scene whose early output of experimental electronic pop singles drew, quite rightly, great affection and a keenness from many a would-be label home.
Now settled on the esteemed turf of Indiana's Jagjaguwar, Lavers is set to release his debut album under Chanel Beads, Your Day Will Come, a dreamlike mix of raw sonics and eclectic structures that blend to form a searingly beautiful record that is acutely emotive.
"If it didn’t move me while performing, then I couldn’t make it into a song. As much as I wanted to make something that was cool to the touch, I had to make something that made me feel something."
Shane Lavers
With notable contributions from live bandmates Maya McGrory (vocals) and Zachary Paul (violin), Lavers uniquely deciphers sound and thought to produce an atypical but wholly deliberate musical charisma, that is both honest and profoundly affecting. A carefully curated sound is steeped in reality while simultaneously evoking an otherworldly occupation - this is the music that soundtracks the spatial relationship between us all.
We're excited to announce Chanel Beads as part of Rough Trade On The Rise, our dedicated curation putting a spotlight on the emerging music we are the most excited for you to hear, to follow and become a fan of.
